The Celebrating Women Collection honours the pride, passion and perseverance of Canadian women; all who have been integral to the development of Canada’s social heritage and national identity. Larisa’s visual imagery reflects on the many roles women have played in the development of Canada, particularly in the areas of health, safety, education, human rights, cultural identity, family and community development.
Celebrating Women was originally sponsored by the National Council of Women of Canada (NCWC). The collection of 25 paintings toured across Canada in 2004-2005. Through imagery, the art educates and brings awareness to current social issues. It is hoped that the images will inspire and encourage involvement in activities that improve the quality of life for women, families and community.
