Song of Solomon 5:13 – “His cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet flowers” his lips like lilies dropping sweet-smelling myrrh.”

There has been a great on-going discussion centered around the identification of the Biblical lily or lilies. It is generally accepted that the lip-red flowers of the Song of Solomon were the scarlet re variety of the anemone (anemone coronaria).  It is also believed that anemone is the “lilies” mentioned in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:28).
